Public Safety Training
Program Overview
Roanoke-Chowan Community College is committed to supporting the training needs of individuals preparing for careers in emergency services, as well as those seeking to strengthen safety skills in the workplace and community. Our Public Safety programs offer high-quality instruction, hands-on practice, and certification opportunities designed to prepare students for critical response roles and enhance public safety preparedness.
Core offerings include Basic and Advanced EMT, which provides training for emergency medical response and prepares students for state and national certification exams; Heartsaver CPR, ideal for community members, educators, and workplace responders; BLS Provider CPR, designed for healthcare professionals and first responders; and the Defensive Driver 4-Hour course, which promotes safe driving habits and accident prevention awareness.
In addition to scheduled classes, we provide in-service training tailored to the needs of local fire, EMS, and law enforcement departments, ensuring that agencies can maintain required credentials and sharpen mission-critical skills. Additional Public Safety training and certification offerings include: Firefighter, Fire Officer, Fire Instructor, D/O Aerial and Pumps, EVD, Chief 101, FLSE, Technical Rescue, and Telecommunication.
